Blue Horse

Blue Horse is one of Mary Alice Hadley’s earliest designs, painted even before the pottery opened on Story Avenue in 1945. The horse in motion became a defining motif, appearing on dinnerware, Derby pieces, and even in museum collections. Today each Blue Horse is still hand-painted in Louisville, carrying forward Mary Alice’s quick, expressive brushwork with a deeper cobalt glaze.
