Mary Alice Hadley created most of our current designs and all designs are inspired by M.A. Hadley. Every artist was trained by a protégé of Mrs. Hadley. Genuine Hadley Pottery pieces have the M.A. Hadley hand-painted signature on the bottom or side of the piece.

Our love affair with Hadley Pottery started 38 years ago. My husband's aunt gave our oldest daughter a birth-day plate when she was born. Then daughter #2 got one. We used them on their Birthday to celebrate. It was used for every meal that day. When we started having grandchildren, I kept up the tradition. They all love their Birthday plates. (I even had to get one for one son in law so he would have a special plate, too)I just received the sixth grandchild plate. I will gift it to her at Christmas. It is so very special to have this unique tradition. Thank you Hadley Pottery!
We waited a long time for the birth plate. There was a problem with the first one made, so it had to be re-done, which took several weeks. When it did arrive, it is beautiful, but the background is much different than the birth plate I ordered last year. The two plates will hang together, and one has a very grey background, and the other has an almost yellow background. I have ordered several Hadley birth plates, and they are a treasure, however this last one doesnt seem to be up to the high standard of quality I was expecting. I am very dissapointed because it is so different.
I am thrilled to be following my mother in law’s tradition of giving these personalized plates at the birth of my grandchildren! They are a beautiful keepsake.
I am disappointed that there is now a limit of letters allowed for the name at the top. My 3 children have their full names—now only able to have first name.
