The Shaded Thinker - Mary Alice Original Mural
Painted directly on a large metal-clad door, framed by red brick, covering a window in the slip cast area. The door is roughly 81 inches wide and 98.5 to 102 inches tall. Features include handprints forming a tree by the door’s handle, along with scratches and wear from decades of use.
This print is the first of 50, custom framed by Masters Frame Shop.
The Process
We captured these murals in collaboration with Louisville’s State Film Lab, documenting their surfaces exactly as they appear today, including natural wear, scratches, and signs of daily use. Each mural is printed in editions of 50 on museum-grade, 100% cotton Hahnemühle paper. Each print is secured by Peer, preserving an authenticity signature and ensuring the mural’s history stays connected to the physical print.

Mary Alice Hadley created most of our current designs and all designs are inspired by M.A. Hadley. Every artist was trained by a protégé of Mrs. Hadley. Genuine Hadley Pottery pieces have the M.A. Hadley hand-painted signature on the bottom or side of the piece.
